NOMADUK 'STEALTH' FLEECES

Made from a super-quiet, yet water- and windproof material these garments are to our knowledge, unique to NOMADUK and, in our opinion following four years of extensive use, are the answer to a much desired and old concept - to stalk silently and comfortably whether walking, crawling, sitting, or lying in wait ..... whatever the elements.

The latest in fleece wear and proven in forest and on marsh, field and hill the range at present includes six garments. Each is made of the water- and windproof, breathable, light and very durable two-sided fleece with sandwiched hydrophilic laminate. All seams are taped. Originally tested on the 'hill' for over a year we found these gave greater all-round comfort through improved whicking, breathable, wind- and waterproof qualities over conventional materials.

Available in single colours as opposed to camouflage, the drab olive blends well into darker backgrounds of forest and hill, whilst the khaki caters equally well for the lighter coloured hill and marsh grasses as well as stubble. In point of fact there is no need for these to be available in a camouflage as both foliage and also snow attaches to the fleece enabling one to blend even further into background on stubble or open Scottish mountainside.

3). NOMADUK "STEALTH" HOODED SMOCK

Designed for Woodland and Roe Stalking in particular this versatile smock is equally ideal for Rangers, Birdwatchers and Keepers as it was developed around the use and storage of binoculars. Replaced original 'Woodland' Smock to give an updated version with complete hood for those Stalkers, Wildfowlers and 'Keepers' preferring total comfort in worst conditions.

4). ZIPPERED HILL SMOCK

Instructors at The Jackie Stewart Shooting School at Gleneagles as well as west coast highland stalkers and lowland gamekeepers are responsible for much of the design and development of this smock.

Used on a daily basis as a working garment in all weathers, this has proven to be not only dependable but also very versatile too. Available in both a light khaki or drab olive green, this fully zippered smock is ideal for both hill and lowland stalking as well as keepering, beating and picking-up. Tailoring is similar to the Woodland Smock and features include:

9). NOMADUK "STEALTH" PLUS 3

We can make you a Plus 4 but go no shorter than a Plus 3...... Why ? ...... Simple:... the 'overhang' is of the utmost importance as it covers the area of exposed stocking between knee and gaiter or wellie and protecting it from getting wet even when kneeling in a bog. Simply put: if your stockings stay dry, so do you. No reason to wear overtrousers even when walking through a field of dripping wet kale. At the end of the field simply run your hands over the surface of the Plus 3 removing all water and that's that.... Dry ! and wonderfully light and comfortable too !!

Stylish and practical with generous cut, ideal for walking or crawling on the hill and wonderfully comfortable in breathable waders. Features include:

‘3 Season ’ Zippered Smock:

For those occasions when the wind, rain and cold defying qualities of NOMAD UK’s ‘STEALTH’ range is an overkill. Can be worn throughout the year. Very much a compromise. The ‘3 Season’ Fleece is not totally windproof (except around torso, shoulders and elbows) which keeps one cooler in warm weather whilst at the same time giving protection to rain.

‘The “GROUSE” Coat:

In late 2003 we were asked to make a lightweight packable shooting coat for driven grouse in our trusted hydrophilic coated peached microfibre.

This we obliged and after extensive testing came up with slightly different models for Ladies and for Gents.

Only the features are different with Lady’s models having more ‘fitted’ and different angled ‘slouch’ / ‘hand-warmer and cartridge pockets.

The “No-See-UM” Anti-Midge Coat:

Named after the murderous blood sucking tiny midges of Alaska – called ‘Les Petits Merdes’ in France this jacket has been designed to minimise the acts of their Britannic cousins and keep summer stalkers, shepherds and anglers from going mad

General Note: the fleece used in NOMADUK "STEALTH" garments is waterproof, however, garments themselves are strictly not so because of open collar, cuff and hand pockets. We have found the simple use of gloves and gaiters ( Look out for NOMADUK 'Puttees') in very wet conditions minimises water transference by capilliary action thus avoiding possible discomfort. Latest fabric tapes cannot seal four layers of fleece plus two of laminate and offer the same degree of waterproofness as the fleece laminate. However, strategic positioning of seams maximises degree of waterproofness. Cold water washing (less than 30 degreesC). using light powder as for woollens and drip drying is best. Finally, we have found that if tape rises or if the fabric is cut repair in the field is not only simple but very cheap and long lasting by the application of pliable UHU fabric glue - which is quite amazing and definitely a plus and comforting to know considering the expensive cost of the base fleece fabric and workmanship
